REFEREE  |  STEPS FOR MINOR OFFICIALS
If you're between the ages of 15 1/2 to 17 years old and interested in officiating within the SVNJB Referee Association, follow the steps listed below to register.  Officials must complete the registration process before they can be assigned games.

I N S T R U C T I O N S :
Submit Contact Info ONCE, then proceed to the 4 Registration Stages below. For Stage 2, 3, & 4, click on the arrow next to each stage for details on how to complete that specific stage.

Minor Referee

STAGE 1: REGISTER FOR NJB HQ BACKGROUND CHECK
Officials must register with NJB Headquarters and complete a background check.

For best results, we recommend using a DESKTOP to complete registration.

Follow Steps 1-10 to complete background check, after step 10 close window and proceed to STAGE 2.
  1. Click the yellow NJB HQ Background Check button below
  2. Click Next and enter personal info to create an account.
  3. Read all of the background consent & select agree to the 1st acknowledgement question to proceed.
  4. Scroll down, read remainder of consent section, select yes to authorization question to proceed.
  5. Upload a current photo.
  6. Enter " Northern California - Reggie Burrell" in assignor for your region question.
  7. Answer whether you are a student or not and click next to proceed to the next page.
  8. Answer experience questions & click Next to proceed.
  9. Finally enter payment info, agree to terms, then select make payment.
  10. After payment made, proceed to Stage 2 below Arbiter Window
  • STAGE 2: REGISTER FOR SVNJB REFEREE ASSOCIATION

    Next  register with SVNJB after you've passed your background check.

    Follow the ordered list below to complete the online SVNJB registration through Arbiter Sports.


    Silicon Valley NJB Arbiter Sports ID#: 106248


    1. CLICK TO REGISTER FOR SVNJB REFEREE ASSOCIATION  (ArbiterSports ID#106248)
    2. From ArbiterSports Dashboard, Click registration link, under Current Registrations
    3. Click Next below Welcome Message
    4. Enter Personal Info (Use same email from background check and info should autopopulate)
    5. Click Next once personal info entered
    6. Answer Silicon Valley NJB questions, the click finish
    7. After you've completed the SVNJB registration, click "SWITCH VIEWS" on top page
    8. From dropdown organization window, select ID 106248 National Junior Basketball - Silicon Valley Official
    9. From ArbiterOne homepage, click the "BLOCKS" tab.   You will set your season availability here.

    Finally, set yourself to active to receive games (read below)

    • Go to the "PROFILE" tab.
    • Check the "Ready To Be Assigned" box.
    • Print out, complete, and submit the W-9 Tax form and SVNJB Referee Contract located in Stage 3.
  • STAGE 3: SUBMIT CONTRACT, FORMS, COPY OF ID, & WORK PERMIT

    Print, complete, and submit a:

    Underage officials are also required to submit the following:

    • Copy of State issued ID (Either Driver License or State ID)
    • Copy of Student ID
    • Copy of work permit

    For Referees that want to receive Direct Deposit:

    If your banking info has changed, attach a voided check or bank direct deposit form along with the Referee Contract / Code of Conduct form; otherwise submit the completed form only.

    PROCEED TO STAGE 4

  • STAGE 4: COMPLETE PAYMENT & PURCHASE REF GEAR
    • Proceed to the SVNJB Online Registration & Store below to pay regstration fees & purchase ref shirt.  Officials must wear an NJB referee shirt when officiating games.   Shirts will be available at the Referee clinic or you can order online below.

    • Attend a Referee Clinic either 10/28 or 11/4.  At the referee clinic, officials will be able to purchase uniforms, complete or submit registration information.  Referee clinics also provide more detailed information on the upcoming season and what is expected from our SVNJB officials.

    • Attend an on-court training session.  On-Court training sessions are provided to help officials understand, improve, and acclimate themselves to the NJB rules and culture.  For more information regarding the on-court referee training, click on the Referee Training link below.
