ABOUT SPRING LEAGUE

Looking to play in a league this Spring?  Have a team of players looking to play or an individual player looking for a team?  Register for our Spring League.  Games played at gyms in San Jose / Santa Clara area.  Limited number of team and player spots available.  Register today before all spots are filled.

LEAGUE FEATURES

  • NO CHAPTERS | OPEN BOUNDARIES

    Players / Teams register with the SVNJB Section and not their local chapter. Anyone from anywhere can register.


    There are no registration boundary restrictions for Spring League. Players from any chapter or location can register to play. Registration is done through the section, Silicon Valley NJB, not the local chapters. NJB Chapters are not active outside of Winter League.

  • NON-TRADITIONAL POST SEASON FORMAT

    MIDDLE TEAMS vs MIDDLE TEAMS

    BOTTOM TEAMS vs BOTTOM TEAMS


    The post season isn't like traditional playoff formats. SVNJB attempts to group evenly matched teams in the post season. Meaning we match top teams vs. top teams and bottom teams vs. bottom teams so each team has a chance to win.

  • NO CO-ED TEAM | SEPARATE DIVISIONS

    There are separate divisions for Boys and Girls except in the Rookie Program.

How Spring League Works

FOR BOYS & GIRLS 3RD - 12TH GRADE

Register as a team

Already have a group of players?  Register as a pre-form team.
Have your coach, team parent, or captain create the team first.  Then all players register to the team created.  If you don't have a minimum of 7 players, let us know.  We will have free agents to help fill rosters (NO TRYOUTS).

Register as an Individual

Not on a team?  Register as a free agent for a chance to be placed onto a team.  Free agents are placed onto teams in need of players or if coaches or parents become available to coach, we can create free agent teams.

Wait for team placement

You will be notified via email if you were placed onto a team.  For players not placed onto teams, we will have a 3v3 outdoor league as well.  For 3v3, Players are placed onto teams of 3-6 players.  They play 3 30min games each game day on a half court.  3v3 is a fun, fast paced, style of play that also became an Olympic sport.

Select your uniform status

Wait for team placement

You will be notified via email if/when placed onto a team.  We are only able to place players onto teams based on the number of free agent coaches available or the number of spots made available on pre-form teams.  Only registered and paid plaers will be placed onto teams.  If you or someone you know is interested in coaching, contact us @

Schedule is released

Once registration closes and all teams have been formed, the schedule will be released by the last Wednesday before the 1st game date.  Everyone registered will be notified via email when the schedule is available.  Games will be played inside gyms primarily in the San Jose / Santa Clara area.

Season begins

Games begin.  Games primarily are played Sundays but there may be some weeks when games are on Saturday due to holiday or lack of gym availability on Sundays.  Teams may also have double headers on 1 day depending on the number of teams in a division and number of games in the season.

Post Season

The last weekend of the season is tournament time.  All teams qualify for the post season tournament.  Depending on number of teams within a division, we try to break up a division to create more competitive games by matching the top teams vs top teams, middle vs middle, and bottom vs bottom (If enough teams to do so).

  • 3/10 - FREE AGENT REGISTRATION DEADLINE

    FREE AGENTS      

    Definition: Individuals not already on or part of a team that are looking to be assigned to a team.


    Free Agent Team Placement:  

    Free Agent Players will be placed on a team if there are free agent coaches available or teams in need of players.



  • 3/10 - PRE-FORM TEAM REGISTRATION DEADLINE

    PRE-FORM TEAMS      

    Definition: Pre-Existing Team or Team formed outisde of the league or prior to the league with their own players and coach.  


    Examples are school teams, club teams, teams formed in previous leagues, etc.


    PF DEADLINE:

    This is the last day Pre-Form teams/coaches can register for the league.  All teams and players need to register by this deadline.

    Contact Us immediately,  If you miss the deadline email us with your team name, gender, grade, competition level, and whether your team has or needs uniforms.



  • 3/24 - LEAGUE SEASON BEGINS

    Games played primarily on Sundays.  For all dates, check listed schedule at top of page.

    *(All Dates may be subject to changes)


    Games generally are played sometime between 9am - 5:30pm (exceptions may occur) at various locations in the Santa Clara / San Jose area.



  • FINAL WEEKEND | POST SEASON TOURNAMENT

    SATURDAY & SUNDAY

    The League post season tournament will be played on Saturday and Sunday.


    POST SEASON FORMAT:

    The post season isn't like traditional formats.  It is a single elimination tournament.  SVNJB attempts to group evenly matched teams in the post season meaning we try to match  top teams vs. top teams and bottom teams vs. bottom teams so each team has a chance to win (if there are enough teams in eac division to do so).

PROCESS FOR ROOKIES
Listed below are steps explaining the Rookie Program process from registration to start date

BOYS & GIRLS (AGE 6-9) K - 3RD GRADE
*3RD GRADERS NEW TO BASKETBALL CAN JOIN THE ROOKIE LEAGUE

REGISTER YOUR K-3RD ROOKIE

Register your K-3rd (Age 6-9) player for the rookie league.   The rookie league is a developmental program focused more on teaching players basketball fundamentals, rules, and skills to improve as a basketball player.

GROUPS ARE FORMED

Once registration closes, Rookie players will be split into groups and assigned their schedule for the season.  Players will remain with their group for the duration of the season.



ROOKIE PROGRAM BEGINS

Players will go to their assigned session to learn drills, games, and exercises that will help develop them into better basketball players.  Towards the end of sessions players will participate in structured scrimmages.

LEAGUE POLICIES

NO REFUND POLICY

Please make sure to read all information thoroughly and to register correctly, as the league has a no refund policy. Refunds only given upon league's discretion. Refunds will not be given for players that move from free agent to pre-form teams.

UNIFORM POLICY

Uniforms will be ordered for teams that need them and register before registration deadline. Teams that have uniforms must have home & away tops with numbers on front and back to be acceptable.
